This website is my effort to help share information. Many of the parents feel strongly about our schools, but because we are in the midst of literally raising our children, we don't have time to attend meetings. Apathetic? No! Busy, overwhelmed and beyond tired? Yes! So let's see if we can share information another way.
Anyone having information regarding budgets, programs being cut, and anything we can DO about it, please post here as a comment. Or email me at comstock.king@gmail.com and I will post it. I'd like to include information from meetings as well. You can quote the newspaper (the Chronicle is available online for pay) or anything else you think to be factual.
Thanks! And let me know how else we can share. Knowledge is power. Pass this link on to anyone who cares.

Is everyone aware that the BOF reversed its vote for a 3% increase and has now voted to support a 0% budget for the BOE? Was anyone at the meeting last week that can shed light on this change of heart??
Yes and yes I can.
When the BOE presented their budget to the BOF, Bob had developed income numbers for 2010/11 that were decreased by $248K from income numbers that were a projected income numbers for 2009/10. However when the 2010/11 budget was being developed, a much larger hole was discovered. A $269K shortfall from this years budget to actual, which was never alerted to the BOF.
The 0% increase reflects a lack of confidence in the numbers presented to the BOF from the BOE. Also, in these economic times when people are losing jobs or on reduced incomes, how could a $3500 increase per teacher be justified.
It boils down to a simple question. What is more important: their raise or keeping jobs and programs in the schools?
